Hi, my name is Kathleen OBrien.   I am a Licensed Master of Social Work specializing in Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, and Personal and Family counseling. I am a subject expert in Gender Therapy and provide therapy to  transgendered individuals and their families.

I know what it is like to go through the surgeries and transition as a transsexual and want to help others who are transgendered.  But being transgendered is much more than surgeries or clothes.  It is who you are as a person!  It is how you feel deep down inside.  It is your very self.  Sometimes this is so difficult to understand and especially difficult to try to explain to others.  Often they ask why and sometimes they just do not understand when you say "Because I have to, it is and means my very existence!"

The person who is transgendered in a family is not the only person that is affected by being transgendered.  Just like a divorce, it is not just the parents that go through the divorce, in a transition it is the immediate family and everyone tied to the family that goes through the transition as well.  It can be a live shaking experience for everyone!

Being transgendered is not easy and whatever you do, life for a transgendered person is full of difficult choices.  As a transgendered individual or a member of the family of a transgendered individual, you must have someone to talk to who understands and not just say they do.

Services Offered:

Counseling for individuals and families.

Why these services are of benefit to you?

1.  Companies must be aware of the issues involved and what their employees are going through to avoid EEO lawsuits.

2.   Families should obtain all the education and support they can to get through a crisis.

3.  Organizations, lawmakers, judges, lawyers, schools,  physicians, social workers,  psychiatrists, should be aware of the legal, mental, environmental aspects of Transgender Issues.

4.  Advocacy and Transgender Rights as individuals is important.  Each person is a person above anything else and each person deserves a safe environment free of harassment and ridicule.  Each person deserves to be treated like a loving human being above all.
